"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged on how its animals are treated" - Gandhi

Welcome! I think basic obedience is one of the best training tools you can incorporate into your dog's life. Don't forget, I'm training the dog how I'm training you! Dog training should also be fun! How responsive are you if someone shouts orders or comes from anger? I personally will run the other way, so be creative with your dog. Figure out what motivates your dog, most dogs will work for food. Make sure your dog is paying attention to you, if your dog is staring at a bug in the grass, don't ask him to sit! When I'm teaching a dog, I want to set him up to win, not to fail. I use positive reinforcement and rewards. I don't use any harsh corrections. Anyone can be a bully to a dog, but we're bigger than they are, so play fair!
